August Break: End of Season, Hollyhock Leaves

Photobucket

A few days ago, you got to see my hollyhock leaves at the beginning of the season. Now you get to see what they look like at the end. Weathered by time, rust, and insects they become lacy and ethereal shadows of what they once were.

***

Emily Joyce asked me in one of my comments if my August Break photos would be up for sale. After I use rollip.com, the photos are low res, so they wouldn't be appropriate for 8x10s, but I am looking into making note cards available and will be offering individual and combinations of note cards available soon in my store, Howard Knits.

Very nice picture. I have hollihocks, guess just never payed much attention to them as they are leaving for the winter. I try to leave them up as long as possible, but I have a neighbor who....well, she's not liking me much these days, so complains about everything...and I mean everything.

Your pictures are gorgeous! I really like how you capture the everyday life that most people don't give a second thought to notice.

It's eerily beautiful. Unfortunatly for me my second plant of green bean leaves look like this picture. Grasshoppers have hit them pretty good.

How exciting to come out with a line of notecards with your beautiful photography on them!! Sounds lovely!

They will make lovely note cards! :)
Beautiful picture today, interesting how something that could be seen as old and worthless is really beautiful from a different perspective.

Aw, I love the look of lacy old leaves. You've captured it perfectly! And how lucky to have had hollyhocks - I tried unsuccessfully to grow them for several years and gave up. :-(

Beautiful leaf, and photograph.

You know, I think I love the lacy, dying leaves far better than the rich, vibrant new flowers. Isn't the beauty all around us so incredibly amazing? Of course, you really have the eyes to see it.
