A Crazy Love Story

One night, very early in Tim's and my relationship, we were sleeping. Spooning. Out of nowhere, interupting my deep sleep, I felt a WHACK on the back of my head! My former weight-lifting, body-building man had hit me with all of his strength, in his sleep, on the back of my head! After I had recovered from the unintentional beating, I turned over and kicked him and asked him what the heck he was doing. Still half asleep he said, "It was falling and I saved you," and that was that.

The next morning, my neck was hurting and I was determined to get a better story of why I was beaten out of my sleep. I asked Tim about it again, and he looked at me and then smiled. "I was having a dream that we were in a junkyard," he said. "One of those big magnets that holds cars was right over your head and dropped the car. I hit the car really hard and saved your life. I didn't mean to hurt you!"

My dreamy man had saved my life! I was in pain, but I had been saved.

I still smile when I think of this. I love my strong (and really gentle) man.

Oh, what a great story. I've read it to my husband and now we have a bad case of the giggles. He says to tell you he's a very manly man who doesn't giggle. He just chuckles. I'm the one who is giggling. ha.

I understand! My cycling hubby kicks me in his sleep often. When I ask him what happened, I usually get an answer that's something like "there was a log in the trail and I had to bunnyhop" or "I hit a rock". He never remembers his dreams. But it makes me giggle everytime. The man has been pedaling since age 3 and he even pedals in his sleep!

what a funny story. i've had lots of dreams that seemed real, but the only one where i woke up in pain was when i dreamed a bee stung my thumb. it was red, swollen and sore when i woke up!

hope you had a big magnet-free valentine's day.

Thats a great story! Did you find though that you couldn't ever really complain about being in pain because he had saved your life?

So funny! Right after we were married, I went to work with a black eye. My husband had been fending off the enemy in his sleep and got me right in the eye with his elbow. He felt so bad...and my coworkers didn't know me so well as I was new...so it took some 'splainin.

That's too funny! You could have booked it out of there, but instead you realized that he was just protecting you! What a great story!

Funny! I have been known to hit in my sleep as well. But mine are always retaliatory... I'll have bad dreams that he's leaving me or being really mean and I just decide I'm not going to take it anymore and I'll hit him as hard as I can.

Thankfully it's only happened twice (both while I was pregnant).
