Runny Like a Milkshake
By Erin from Marysville, OH on 9/13/2010Pros: Easy to Use, Compact Size
Cons: Ice Cream Too Soft
Best Uses: Custom Flavors
Describe Yourself: Avid Cook
This is my first ice cream maker, so maybe the consistancy I'm getting is normal. But the result was much like a very mushy milkshake. I had to freeze the ice cream for 2 hours before it reached ice cream consitancy and then then ice crystals were too big. But the ice cream was So Good! I'm going to try to perfect this machine, though. I have brown butter ice cream to make. I would appreciate any hints in perfecting using this machine!

I've got a similar Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker, and I've upped the mixing time to 25 minutes. It's still a bit runny, but after an hour or two in the freezer it's perfect. I've been experimenting with several ice cream recipes, and have found that Paula Deen has some great ones...where they remain nice and creamy even after being in the freezer. Here are a couple of links to my blog showing the Homemade Oreo Ice Cream, and then another one switching out the Oreos for Toffee bits...
