Frivolity - self-indulgence, irresponsibility, triviality, abandon, levity, foolishness.
I love to watch William play. He plays with complete abandon, few limits, and for the simple pleasure of it. And his whole day is looking for the next fun thing to do. He relishes in going down slides, vroom-vrooming cars over any surface he can find, spinning in circles until he gets so dizzy he falls down, and singing at the top of his lungs.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could indulge ourselves like three-year-olds. Often, it seems, responsibilities like finances, cooking, cleaning, working, and raising kids gets in the way of our former frivolity.
But occasionally, those moments shine through. I urge you to tango with your five-year-old, to spin in circles with the toddler, to swing until your stomach flips, just let your hair down as they say. Let the frivolity take over; you will be grateful you did.

I talk about scheduling "me" time on my blog today, and one commenter talked about scheduling "off-task" time into their itinerary. I think they are on to something ... Seems like the perfect time to find those moments of frivolity.
great post & so true!
tango, waltz, foxtrot.....i do it all with myself. my hubby hates to dance so i do it everyday with my feet and my mind.....
and sometimes....even a little disco :)
Love these images. And, oh, I love your words. Wonderful reminders to just live; just be.
love those moments, we all need more of them in our lives, that is for sure. as a kid one of my favorite things to do was to spin and spin until I fell down, thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory. have a great weekend.
what a lovely post Erin. Have a good weekend!
such lessons wee ones teach! what a beautiful time together.
Beautiful. I love those images enjoy the rest of your weekend xox
I do this everyday with my girl. She deserves it and so do I. Letting go of all inhibitions is refreshing. I need to do it MORE.
Oh Erin, I love the pictures. They make me dream of how my grandson will be when he's that age.
As for frivolity, most days that's my middle name. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but crazy laughter is essential to our sanity.
there is truly nothing like frivolity with a child...truly.
Beautiful erin~
Enjoy these moments...one of my daughters just turned 13. I still picture her as a toddler. It's a cliche but true. Time flies by. At her birthday party, I sure didn't say I wish I would have spent more time traveling and away from her at work.
Oh that we could exprience every day as adults the abandon that sweet William has as he plays. Life has its own ideas and brings into our lives so many challenges.
Always wishing you the best.
What sweet photos. I promise to take out some time this week and join the fun with my son. Thanks for reminding us of the important stuff.
