Dust of Snow

Photobucket

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

Robert Frost (1923)

Today I am grateful for central heat, a warm bed, a downy coat, and my cabled pink gloves, bought when I was so cold at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf (and memories of travel to faraway places)

Bring on the Rain

It has been raining and cold for a few days here.

It's gloomy.

Photobucket

And dreary.

Photobucket

It's enough to make a person want to stay in bed.

Our lives are like rainy, cold days sometimes, aren't they?

But through the clouds come rays of sun, reminding us that it will warm up soon.

And with the rain comes the beauty of flowers:

anemones

coreopsis

irises

and hellebores.

And most beautiful of all, rainbows, a reminder that our God is with us.

Bring on the rain.

Winter Loveliness

We had a rather grand snowfall last night. The kids were on a 2 hour delay for school and we nestled inside for most of the day. I did, however, manage to get a few photos of winter in Marysville, OH.

Isn't he the greatest? I found him in the park.

Couldn't get enough of this guy!

I hope you are staying warm, and for those readers across the sea where snow is rare, I hope you can feel the chill coming from these snowy day photos!
