Bloom

The flowers are starting to bloom in Ohio. My father-in-law's daffodils are showing their sunny faces and I have pictures of my first hellebores to share with you. My mom has a magic touch with house plants; her Christmas cactus blooms sporadically all year long and show off the most gorgeous tiered flowers (the jade plant is here's, too). She's the only person I've ever met that could keep African violets and orchids alive outside of a greenhouse and get them to bloom over and over again. She doesn't have to wait for spring to see flowers blooming.

Very nice. This time of year the daffodil fields in Skagit County, Washington, where I live are blooming. Tourists flock to the fields and it is so fun. Soon our fields of Tulips will be blooming too. My favorite time of year! :)

I was born in Salem, Ohio. I miss it haven't been back since 1968. I bet it is beginning to look nice with the flowers beginning to bloom.

Hello. a-z blogging too. Your Good Mom post is so emotional to me. Even perfect looking mothers have their issues when you are not looking...and if you truly want to parent differently (the food for example) you can make slow gradual changes.
You are a good mom too.

I looooove christmas cacti and african violets! I have the touch for them, too. The secret is potting them in a specialized pot. If you got to a green house or Home Depot (or such) look for the african violet pot -- it's a two piece pot with a piece that sits inside another. You put water in the basin and set the other piece inside and it keeps the moisture level consistent. The pot and sunshine are all they need to stay happy!

That reminds me. I brought home some new plant babies that need to make an appearance on the blog!

i just love greenhouses - they're so symbolic of how, with enough effort, we can keep alive an eternal spring!
