Skating practice, then to the North Market for dinner (it's one of my favorite places in Columbus). It was closed. So on to the OSU campus for subs.
Kendall wanted to go to Urban Outfitters. Found a spot without a "You'll Be Towed" sign. Off to shopping. Then Starbucks. Gone 45 minutes at the most.
Done shopping. Back to the car. But wait - there is no car! It is gone! At this point, I am frozen and need to call my husband to tell me what to do. We are 20 miles from home. Call my mom and dad to rescue us.
Daughter is devastated. VERY expensive custom ice skates are in the backseat. Her world is at an end. I call my mom, sobbing. She assures me that it was not, in fact, my fault that Kendall's skates are gone, that I am a victim of a crime. She tells me to cry it out and she'll call later.
20 minutes later, call from mom. "It's been towed. They didn't report it when they should have. Here's the info . . ."
Skates recovered, car isn't stolen. All is right with the world (until tomorrow, that is).
