Dog Days

Photobucket

It seems the dog days of summer are upon us. The high today in my neck of the woods was 101 F. Now that's what I call hot. Air conditioning has been cranked up, the fans have come out. And those that are outside find other ways to cool off.

Photobucket

The sprinklers are turned on, the pools and beaches become crowded as everyone takes a dip to cool their skin. A little sand between your toes perhaps?

Photobucket

Shorts and sundresses come out of retirement. Sleeves and pant legs disappear.

Photobucket

Our feet even get into the action with flip flops, sandals, and my preferred method, barefootin'.

Photobucket

We get our first tastes of pink lemonade and lemon shake-ups, little girls set up lemonade stands, and sweet tea tastes even better.

Photobucket

And if all else fails, I recommend becoming as inert as possible. A hammock or patch of sand works quite well.

Welcome Canis Major. May you bring memories and special summer days to us all.

I could do without all of this icky heat, though, I DO love having the excuse to consume mass quantities of pink lemonade! I'm kind of ready for Fall :)

Ah, yes, it is extremely hot out there. We could use one of those January cold blasts right about now.

I have 2 dogs, and both are Siberian Huskies and they want me to speak for them--they hate having their species have any relationship whatsoever to the hot weather. If they could find Mother Nature, she would hear some serious whining from them. I like your blog. My oldest dog writes a blog and he has had quite a few things to say about the weather--none of them good.LOL
