Be a Real Man

Something in me yearns for the days when men wore perfectly pressed pants, fedoras, and starched white shirts. In the 50's and 60's, appearance was so integral to being a MAN. Oh, and smoking the perfect cigarette and drinking amazing scotch. Knowing how to grill the perfect kabob for your Polynesian themed party didn't hurt, either.

And, I remember wearing skirted business suits to my office and to teach. Ah, yes, I remember....

Two words. Cary Grant.

That's all I have to say.

I completely agree with you! Men were so handsome back then, what happened. haha. My husband dresses nothing like this, but I still love him, and I definitely do not scream "50's housewife" either. But great post. ;) ::Kristin::

I too love that style on men I hope it comes back in a big way... but Im its probably wishful thinking.

My dad was in the Navy, so I never saw him all fancied up in a suit too often, but I LOVED seeing him go to work everyday in his crisp uniform, especially his dress whites. I tend to gravitate to kinda of grungy guys (or I did before I was married) but I sure love to see a man all cleaned up nicely!

I just said last week that I wished men still wore hats.

Very "Mad Men" inspired! Sexy! I like my men as MEN, not little boys with emo side swipe hair. BLECH

There IS something about being appropriately dressed, taking (healthy) pride in your appearance. But then, I love the casualness of now, too. I suppose I'm torn between eras.

Oh, and brylcream. Don't forget brylcream. I had no idea you liked nostalgia and celebrity fodder.

I totally agree! It would be nice to see some men tastfully dressed vs. walking around with their pants "hanging on the ground!"
Thanks for following me hun! So far I love your blog <3
